In the Donor’s Mind: The Science of Giving

Presented by Daniel Mansoor

Founder, Good Works Group

What do behavioral economics and psychology teach us about donor motivation? Going beyond strategy, tactics and anecdotes, academic research and studies take us inside the donor’s mind, revealing the science behind charitable giving decisions.

With this knowledge, fundraisers have better tools for motivating donors to give to their organization, give more, and give more regularly. Find out how to use this evidence-based research to implement new creative approaches to your work in cultivating, securing and stewarding your donors and prospects.

Daniel Mansoor is a thirty-year veteran of the nonprofit and philanthropy sector. He is founder of GoodWorks Group providing nonprofit consulting and philanthropy advisory services to a wide variety of client organizations. Mansoor's approach is to build the skills, knowledge and confidence of client leaders, staff, volunteers, and boards that leads to sustained fundraising success and secured lifetime relationships with donors.

Mansoor believes that by focusing on people, creativity, and the science of giving, nonprofits can secure their share of the nearly $1 billion in charitable support that is given away by individuals -- every day!

He began his fundraising and development career at Cornell University and was senior vice president at Brandeis University and is an adjunct faculty at Case Western Reserve University in fundraising and philanthropy. Recently, Mansoor helped implement transformational innovations as the Chief Philanthropy Officer of United Way of Greater Cleveland (2016-18).
