What does it mean to feel Smart & Sexy? It’s about confidence. It’s about feeling comfortable in your skin and knowing that you can go out there and succeed in whatever you want to do. Because there’s nothing sexier than feeling good about who you are. 

“Smart & Sexy Day was created because we know that it’s important to not only look good on the outside but to feel good underneath. ACDN member organizations serve over 25,000 women and men annually and have served over 300,000 to date. This includes thousands of cisgender and transgender women, many of whom don’t have access to much-needed resources as they’re entering the workforce — including good fitting bras,” says Gineyda Diaz, Vice President Board of Directors, Alliance of Career Development Nonprofits. 

Feeling Smart & Sexy is all about taking the pressure off by focusing on what’s underneath. Let’s face it, wearing bras or underwear or even clothes that don’t fit well is not only uncomfortable, it’s distracting. To the person wearing them and potentially the person interviewing them. You can see the difference between someone who’s comfortable in their skin and someone worrying about how things fit. They’re fidgeting, constantly adjusting themselves, moving around in their chair, maybe not sitting up straight. 

“We’re proud to partner with Smart&Sexy® to offer women access to free support garments and to celebrate women and the amazing power that we share as individuals and as allies,” continues Diaz.  

When you have undergarments and clothes that fit, you have a swagger to you and an air of “I can do anything.” And that’s truly sexy. ACDN started Smart & Sexy Day in 2012 because we knew that our members and the women they served, had a better chance of landing a job when they felt good about themselves. So while our training, support and workshops help them prepare for the job they want, they also need to look and feel the part.
